Neighborhood Tour: Shopping and Morso
It’s Paige with AskPaigeSchulte.com, here to take you on a tour of some favorite shopping spots as well as some of our favorite places to eat in Gig Harbor.
Metropolitan Market
Gig Harbor loves their grocery stores. I want to show you Metropolitan Market because if you don’t like to cook, like me, it’s a great place to stop in and get some food that’s already cooked. It’s also known for The Cookie.
This area is called uptown and there is a Met Market in Tacoma, too. What I love is if you are really hungry and don’t know what to choose, you can come here. Bring your whole family: somebody can get ramen noodles, somebody can get sushi, somebody can get sandwiches, somebody can get pizza, somebody can get prime rib. They also have cut up stuff, if you don’t like preparing your food and you want it already cut up.
Thoughts From Falynn: Met Market has a counter with Milkvue Donuts, our local donut company. It’s an amazing product.
Uptown Gig Harbor
The uptown area is right next to Highway 16. There is a drive-through Chipotle. The Pierce County Library is over there. Safeway’s over here, there’s a gas station and the movie theater, HomeGoods, Marshalls, Bloom. There is outdoor dining, and there’s a pavilion where they have a summer concert series. They also have trick or treating, Santa Claus, and Easter egg hunts.
There are lots of good restaurants, like Greenhouse. We do have a blog on what’s open on Mondays, because in Gig Harbor it can be very hard to find places to eat on Mondays.
Wrapping up our tour of uptown, we’ve got the original flagship Cutters Point Coffee. They have a great meeting room if you’re interested in that. And Round Table Pizza for anybody who likes their lunch special from back in the day.
Thoughts From Joel: Bloom is one of my wife’s favorite stores in Gig Harbor.
Thoughts From Falynn: I love Paper Luxe for buying gifts for all my clients.
Downtown Gig Harbor
Olympic Drive becomes Soundview Drive and takes you downtown into the harbor. You’ve got some really gorgeous views of Vashon Island. Each year downtown Gig Harbor hosts a variety of events, including the Maritime Gig Festival, concerts in the park, and a farmers market.
As far as real estate goes, houses in downtown range from one to two million.
We love Morso Bistro to the moon and back. We send all of our clients here for free champagne on us. They’ll take good care of you up there.
Thoughts From Falynn: Susanne’s Bakery is my favorite. They have the best pasta and salad. Millville Pizza Co. is good too.
Thoughts From Paige: HARBORNEST is another great boutique. It’s so cute. And the strawberry cake at Susanne’s Bakery is good.
